Empanadas Recipe

Savory pastries filled with seasoned meat and baked or fried until golden.

Ingredients
  

  • 1 package empanada dough or homemade
  • 1 lb ground meat
  • 1 small onion chopped
  • 2 cloves garlic minced
  • 2 tablespoons tomato sauce or paste
  • 1 teaspoon paprika
  • ½ teaspoon cumin
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • 1 egg for egg wash, optional

Method
 

  1. Cook onion and garlic.
  2. Add meat and cook until browned.
  3. Stir in sauce and spices.
  4. Cool filling.
  5. Fill and seal dough.
  6. Bake or fry until golden.

Notes

  • Cool filling before assembling
  • Do not overfill
  • Seal edges tightly
  • Bake or fry based on preference
