French Dip Sandwich Recipe

A warm sandwich filled with tender beef and served with flavorful au jus.

Ingredients
  

  • 1 lb sliced roast beef
  • 4 hoagie rolls
  • 2 cups beef broth
  • 1 small onion sliced
  • 2 cloves garlic minced
  • 2 tablespoons butter
  • 1 tablespoon Worcestershire sauce
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • 4 slices provolone cheese optional

Method
 

  1. Sauté onion in butter until soft.
  2. Add garlic and cook briefly.
  3. Pour in broth and Worcestershire, simmer.
  4. Add beef and warm gently.
  5. Toast rolls with butter.
  6. Assemble sandwiches with beef and cheese.
  7. Serve with au jus for dipping.

Notes

  • Use good-quality beef
  • Warm, don’t overcook beef
  • Toast bread to prevent sogginess
  • Adjust seasoning to taste
