French Toast Casserole Recipe

A baked version of French toast made with bread and custard.

Ingredients
  

  • 6 cups bread cubes
  • 6 eggs
  • 2 cups milk
  • ½ cup heavy cream optional
  • ¼ cup granulated sugar
  • ¼ cup brown sugar
  • 1 tablespoon vanilla extract
  • 1 teaspoon cinnamon
  • 2 tablespoons butter

Method
 

  1. Grease a baking dish and add bread cubes.
  2. Whisk eggs, milk, cream, sugars, vanilla, and cinnamon.
  3. Pour mixture over bread.
  4. Chill for at least 30 minutes.
  5. Bake at 350°F for 40–45 minutes.
  6. Cool slightly and serve.

Notes

  • Use stale bread for the best results
  • Chill for better texture
  • Customize with toppings
  • Great for make-ahead meals
