German Pancakes Recipe

A baked pancake that puffs up with crispy edges and a soft center.

Ingredients
  

  • 4 eggs
  • 1 cup milk
  • 1 cup all-purpose flour
  • 3 tablespoons butter
  • 2 tablespoons sugar optional
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract optional
  • ¼ teaspoon salt

Method
 

  1. Preheat oven to 425°F with a buttered dish inside.
  2. Whisk eggs, milk, flour, sugar, vanilla, and salt.
  3. Remove hot dish and swirl melted butter.
  4. Pour batter into dish.
  5. Bake for 18–22 minutes until puffed.
  6. Serve immediately.

  • Use a hot pan for the best rise
  • Don’t open the oven early
  • Serve immediately
