Mapo Tofu Recipe

A classic Sichuan dish made with tofu, ground meat, and a spicy, flavorful sauce.

Ingredients
  

  • 14 oz soft or silken tofu cubed
  • ½ lb ground pork or beef
  • 2 cloves garlic minced
  • 1 teaspoon ginger minced
  • 2 tablespoons doubanjiang
  • 2 tablespoons soy sauce
  • 1 cup broth
  • 1 tablespoon cornstarch
  • 1 teaspoon Sichuan peppercorns ground
  • 2 green onions chopped

Method
 

  1. Prepare and blanch tofu.
  2. Cook ground meat.
  3. Add garlic, ginger, and chili paste.
  4. Add broth and soy sauce.
  5. Add tofu and simmer.
  6. Thicken with cornstarch.
  7. Finish with peppercorns and onions.
  8. Serve hot.
