Pretzel Bites Recipe

Soft and chewy bite-sized pretzels with a golden crust and classic salty flavor.

Ingredients
  

  • 3 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 cup warm water
  • 2 ¼ teaspoons active dry yeast
  • 1 tablespoon sugar
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 2 tablespoons butter melted
  • 8 cups water
  • cup baking soda
  • 1 egg beaten
  • 2 tablespoons coarse salt

Method
 

  1. Mix warm water, sugar, and yeast and let sit until foamy.
  2. Add flour, salt, and butter and knead into dough.
  3. Let dough rise for 1 hour.
  4. Shape into ropes and cut into pieces.
  5. Boil in baking soda water for 20–30 seconds.
  6. Brush with egg and sprinkle salt.
  7. Bake at 425°F for 12–15 minutes.
  8. Serve warm.

Notes

  • The boiling step is essential
  • Use fresh yeast for the best results
  • Best served warm
  • Freeze well for later use
