Rib Rub Recipe

A flavorful homemade barbecue spice blend perfect for seasoning ribs before grilling, smoking, or baking.

Ingredients
  

  • ¼ cup brown sugar
  • 2 tablespoons paprika
  • 1 tablespoon garlic powder
  • 1 tablespoon onion powder
  • 1 tablespoon salt
  • 1 teaspoon black pepper
  • 1 teaspoon chili powder
  • ½ teaspoon cayenne pepper
  • 1 teaspoon mustard powder

Method
 

  1. Add brown sugar, paprika, garlic powder, onion powder, salt, black pepper, chili powder, cayenne pepper, and mustard powder to a bowl.
  2. Mix the spices thoroughly until evenly combined.
  3. Pat ribs dry with paper towels.
  4. Generously rub the seasoning mixture onto both sides of the ribs.
  5. Let ribs rest 30 minutes before cooking.

Notes

  • Store extra rub in an airtight container.
  • Use within 6 months for the best flavor.
  • Adjust cayenne pepper for more or less heat.
  • Works well on chicken, pork, and beef.
