Strawberry Shortcake Cake Recipe

A soft layered cake filled with fresh strawberries and whipped cream for a light and refreshing dessert.

Ingredients
  

  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 2 teaspoons baking powder
  • ½ teaspoon salt
  • ½ cup unsalted butter softened
  • 1 cup granulated sugar
  • 3 large eggs
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1 cup milk
  • 2 cups fresh strawberries sliced
  • ¼ cup sugar for strawberries
  • 1 ½ cups heavy cream
  • ½ cup powdered sugar

Method
 

  1. Preheat oven to 350°F and grease cake pans.
  2. Mix flour, baking powder, and salt.
  3. Cream butter and sugar, then add eggs and vanilla.
  4. Alternate adding dry ingredients and milk.
  5. Bake for 20–25 minutes and cool completely.
  6. Mix strawberries with sugar and let sit.
  7. Whip cream with powdered sugar.
  8. Layer cake with cream and strawberries.
  9. Chill before serving.

Notes

  • Use fresh strawberries for the best flavor
  • Chill the cake before slicing
  • Do not overmix the batter
  • Store refrigerated up to 3 days
