Texas Chili Recipe

A traditional no-bean chili made with beef, spices, and a rich, slow-simmered base.

Ingredients
  

  • 2 lbs beef chuck cut into cubes
  • 1 tablespoon olive oil
  • 1 medium onion chopped
  • 3 cloves garlic minced
  • 2 tablespoons tomato paste
  • 2 cups beef broth
  • 2 tablespoons chili powder
  • 2 teaspoons cumin
  • 1 teaspoon paprika
  • 1 teaspoon dried oregano
  • ½ teaspoon cayenne pepper optional
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • ½ teaspoon black pepper

Method
 

  1. Heat oil and brown beef on all sides.
  2. Add onion and cook until soft.
  3. Stir in garlic and cook briefly.
  4. Add tomato paste and spices, cook for 1 minute.
  5. Pour in beef broth and mix well.
  6. Simmer for 1.5–2 hours until tender.
  7. Season to taste and serve.

Notes

  • Brown meat well for the best flavor
  • Simmer low and slow
  • Adjust spice level as needed
  • Tastes even better the next day
